Shadow Gate beat the top-class Cosmo Bulk and Doctor Dino to win the 2007 Singapore Cup. The son of White Muzzle, he broke the 1m 2½f course record when he won a conditions race at Dundalk in 2012 defeating the Aidan O’Brien-trained Ernest Hemingway. Out of the Sunday Silence Mare, Fabulous Turn, Shadow Gate is also the winner of two Grade 3 contests over 1m 2f in Japan.

Sire White Muzzle (winner of the Italian Derby and a two-time runner-up in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes) has had his fair share of other Group One winners, including Nihonpiro Ours (winner of G1 Japan Cup Dirt in 2012), INGRANDIRE (winner of the Spring Tenno Sho in 2004) and ASAKUSA KINGS (Japanese St Leger winner in 2007).
Interestingly and unsurprisingly, Shadow Gate and Asakusa Kings are sons of Sunday Silence mares, while the dam of Nihonpiro Ours is a daughter of the Sunday Silence stallion ADMIRE VEGA. Similarly, White Muzzle’s best result as a broodmare sire has come teamed up with a Sunday Silence stallion: a Singapore Gold Cup winner El Dorado, a son of the White Muzzle mare White Leap, is by the Sunday Silence stallion, Stay Gold.
